14 tooth in the front...have not calculated the ratio. Couldnt get hold of a 44 t rear sprocket from Vortex so I had to go for a 45. Can you help me out with the ratio ? Originally there was 15 - 44 now I´ll have 14-45.

Arnold,

14/45 gives you a .321 gear ratio. I think stock ratio is somewhere around around .24, so you'll get higher RPM's at highway speeds, but have quicker acceleration. I could be wrong here, but I believe this is in the right direction. I know there's a website that allows you to input sprocket teeth #, chain length, bike model/year etc, but I can't find it right now. Hopefully Patton can chip in on this one- he's a genius here

This is the best site for that.

www.gearingcommander.com

Remember that he's running modern 17's too so you have to take that into account. Once you set the tire sizes You can play with the sprocket tooth numbers to match the original gear ratio.

Its better to go big on the front , gives better options on the rear sprocket and better chain to swing arm clearence , I'v heard max on the front is 19 tooth , Im using an 18 tooth on the front It's close to max and 43 on the rear gives a .238

Thax for the input guys,

There is other stuff to consider as well befor going for a 19 tooth front sprocket.
On of those is that I need to modify the sprocket cover and slave clutch cylinder for a larger sprocket to clear.

I just need to weld up the gas tank..post some pics and then I´ll address the drive issues.
