chonus wrote: Damn those look beautiful. I just don't think I could justify the extra expense right now. I still don't even have a swingarm setup yet. I have a line on an 05 Yamaha R6 complete rear for $250. that's with wheel, tire, swinger, shock and linkage, rear sets, and brakes. idk how easily the R6 swinger will work but I imagine it will be as hard/easy as any of the other tried and true swaps. The seller said its 9.75" at the pivot and I think mine is 9.5" so I guess just shave an eighth on each side. Any input on which way I should go would be apprectated

chonus,

removing an 1/8 inch per side sounds do able.i have not gotten to see an r6 swinger in person yet to tell you for sure.
i would think worst case scenario would be to cut the original pivot tube off and machine a new one and weld it back  .

easypeasyjapaneasy.

lemme know if i can help you.

Im hoping that the swap wont be as involved as replacing the tube. It looks fairly similar to gixxer swingers idk. Leon, when I get said swinger I'll more than likely send it and the bits to do the 636 swap. quick question, should it have been a real pain to get the lower triple off the 636 front? I had to run the clamping bolts in backwards and use some plate metal to make a spreader

they can be pretty tight sometimes, and you don't want to scratch the ano.

good thinking on the jack bolt idea.

hopefully just a little milling on the arm will get it between the frame rails.

Damn jarrad that looks sweet!! I love the spokes too, I wanted to find some spoked rims for this. One day maybe. Is that how the swinger looks or are you running it upside down? Also, did you run into any uncommon issues doing the swap or was it fairly straight forward? post a pic of those risers too please

thanks mate, i rekon they will look fairly similar when done.

its a 09' R1 swinger, so that's the way it sits, i chose it coz it had the underbrace and the cut out in one side so i can do an undertail exhaust....
it also has reversed linkage, if you look at the pic below you will notice the dogbone
bolts to the swingarm not the frame.

the only problem i have had so far is having to make a swingarm piviot bolt and bushes, but thats only because in using a shaft drive frame as they are a lot wider and give better chain clerance on the frame.

the triples are off a 05' Z1000, the forks are the same size!
