Z800 Cafe Fighter Chopper thing GEOMETRY SPECS

Bored waiting for machine parts to show up so have been fiddling with colours and drew up my wheels properly. This is the final final version - and these are the final 2 colour ways I'll get painted up. Am losing the tail altogether and going for a pad seat and ned it there.

Well guys, after many MANY months of waiting - my yokes and other machined bits are done. I will collect them next weekend and then I will have a rolling chassis to reignite the build. You can really lose motivation at these parts of the build but the sight of a mocked up bike shaped thing is huge because I'll always have the vision of the complete bike there to spur me on - so this major milestone.

I will collect next Saturday:

Z650 Frame with Swing-arm, rear sets and rear caliper/mount all fixed on.

CNC work comprises of complete front end, yokes, disc spacers, wheel spindle, steerer tube and detachable risers should I want to go clip-on style.

Well - bet you thought I'd given up! But in fact I've just gotten my machines parts back from the CNC guy - he's slow (because it's not his main business) but he is awesome. Here are the yokes all plugged in. almost 2" of drop but they look pretty cool. The guy keep them svelte to not overpower the delicate Z front end - plus they are hyper light.

Spacers



The package consists of yokes, steerer tube and nut, risers, custom disc spacers / hub spacers and front spindle - the total cost was £840 which included engineering, materials, labour and anodising. If you ask me it was worth every penny to get the look and quality right. They look like factory yokes and also have detachable risers - which I'm not going to use.


The rearsets are also on and my Brembo cylinder at 12 o'clock just as specified. These will be anodised Black with Gold bolts.




Swingarm is all sorted with rear caliper also at 12 o'clock and an discreet hub carrier / torque arm that makes use of the swingarms brace 'stub'. I will redesign this whole carrier / arm in CNC to be a more minimal and elegant unit.

Uses the modern bearings.










Bolted up - the look of the bike has exceeded my expectations and has the blend of modern & tech with classic and stylish that I was after. Very happy with the silhouette.








In all these pics, I've raised the front of the tank about 1.5" as I really want the top of the tank to be the highest point of the bike. It adds to the haunched up aggressive dragster look I want.

Sadly it totally fouls the steering clearances - so the tank may need some surgery to make this work.




Also got my clip ons and Titax short levers on. I knew right away I didn't want riser bars as it just added bulk to that are and looked too 'chopperish'. Very happy with the comfort and feel of this whole front end just sitting on the bike. The clip-ons are actually upside down and on the opposite sides to get them up an inch or two - much comfier and less of the supersports angle.




And finally, photoshopped in the engine and exhaust and it's looking pretty damn close to what I wanted!





And in 3D - I think it's got to be Green - people have to KNOW it's a Kwack.




Finally, trying to get my custom badge made up - not having any luck - answers on a postcard?
