I have to fight back the urge to do stuff half assed at this point. I really want to ride it, but it needs to be right. So far, the headlight, taillight, turn signals, dash lights, hazards, idiot lights, and starter all function. Horn won't blow, but I know that the switch pod isn't making a good ground on the painted bars.

Just like everything else, the wiring harness is taking too long since so much stuff is being changed. I'm trying to prevent any future electrical gremlins, so each new terminal is being soldered on, heat shrinked, and dielectric grease on all connections. Hopefully, I'll finish the wiring stuff tomorrow, and get the Dyna hooked up. I wasn't about to wire that baby until I knew for sure that I didn't have any errant wires. I'm not about to let the smoke out of that little $400 blue box.

Then I can adjust my carb floats and I should be ready to try and light the fires. I might be able to take a quick video of the lights with my camera if anyone is interested. The LED taillight is pretty cool.

Ok so I see the top view here, how aout a side shot.

It looks much smaller than the catologue photo's make it look.

I am trying to figure out where to put one on my bike, looks like it will need to be tucked away from the elements.

Are the connectors weather proof?

Oh yea, I made the flip flop comment based on a running joke we have in the SSA (Seirra Sport bike Association).

Then I noticed your flip flops in the photo...Joke was not aimed at you....foot in mouth time now... odd coincidence.

I'll try to get a picture from the side this evening, and a short video.

Right now the Dyna is just set on there, but I plan on attaching it to the top of the battery box with velcro. That part that you have labeled as aluminum is actually the top of the battery box. It's made from 1/8" thick steel. The connectors are no more weather proof than the rest of your wiring harness, but I do plan to put dielectric grease in everything. Any signs of water intrusion into the electric area will be dealt with as necessary, but I'm not sure what will happen. I suspect that I'll have to build a deflector to keep the tire from spraying the fuse box etc.

As for the flip flops, I'm not offended. I don't ride with them. I'm pretty dedicated to wearing my protective gear, and I always wear my riding boots. If you ever have an oopsie and have to stab a foot down, then the boots save you from a lot of pain. Flip flops are for cruising around the house, not cruising on the motorcycle.

i mounted my Dyna side ways so that i could
1. access the knobs, by removing the right, side cover.
2. so i could see the timming signal light, that is located on its end, while turning the crank by hand with a wratchet.B)

I started out trying to do it the same way, but it's a little too high to reach the knobs. They get obscured by the frame tube. I'll mount it front to back with the velcro. That way, I can remove it easily for timing purposes.

Ok guys, I got the Dyna mostly wired up this evening, and I finished with all the new bullet connectors to make the headlight wiring permanent. All that's left of the wiring is to get the crank trigger attached and shrink wrap the harness. Closer and closer to starting the old girl!

I'll tell you this much. All that neck bracing doesn't make installing plug wires any easier.

Here's the Dyna mounting pics:

A couple of shots of the lights:

I took a couple of crappy videos with my camera, and once I figure out how to post them on youtube, I'll link them here.
