I wonder if you could use that banjo switch at the master cylinder instead and avoid running wires back to the rear wheel.

Bolting the switch to the M/C is the way to go. Keeps your wires short and out of the way and close the the main harness.

Good point on putting the banjo in the MC. That would have come to me eventually .

OK so you must have a picture of the taillight in place. Well I took your suggestion and taped over the lens.

Sorry, I couldn't resist! Too easy, I know.
Here's the real pic.

Finally, here's an attempt at a lighted one.

That is just the running light. This sucker is bright. I tested out all of the functions, and everything works just like the ebay ad. Well worth the price. You will have to figure out the wiring yourself since the Yamaha uses dummy-proof connectors. It does include a basic wiring diagram to show how to connect the sequential blinkers only. I'll include the wiring details eventually, but thats a loong way off. BTW it is possible to tuck it up even farther and obscure the pointy corneres.

Naw, I deserved that B) I like how that looks alot. I'm guessing it was nice to have a relatively easy distraction from fabbing those rearsets. I'm still searching for the right integrated tail light that I can make work with an undertail exhaust.

Yeah, between trying out that light, ordering all of my engine and drivetrain parts, and changing a thermostat on the Maxima, you could say that I have been distracted. I hope to get back to the rearsets this weekend. But that's one thing that I always do. I start a project, get frustrated, divert, and then resume later. I'm thinking that I may take some time off work if I ever get caught up, and focus on bike building.

Here's the to-do list, it's got lots of those little details.

Rebuild front calipers with new pads.
Replace all brake hoses.
Rebuild rear caliper with new pads.
New clutch cable.
Mount my gauges.
"Hybrid" speedo cable. There's that word again.
Headlight. All I have is a bucket and tabs.
Front turn signals.
Ignition switch
Control switches.
Decide on handlebars/risers/grips or clipons/grips.
Petcock.
Ignition.
Waiting for my exhaust.
Plumb fuel lines.
Passenger footpegs.
Mount rear MC reservoir.
Mount rear shock nitrogen reservoir.
Rebuild rear shock.
Build a battery box.
Wiring in general.
Mount license plate and taillight.
Install lower side panel mounts.
Teardown.
Finish weld everything.
Bodywork.
Paint everything.
Recover seat.
Final assembly.
Air filters.
Fluids.
Tuning.
Terrorize Harley riders endlessly.

Yup, the devil is in the details. You have a couple months before it starts getting hot. That's a very comprehensive to-do-list. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time my friend ;)

Back from my secrect underground lair. Here's the pics that I promised Mark.

Hope that does the trick. I would take this over a Z-1 taillight any day. It has the edge in brightness by about 3 to 1 and also the brake light flash that helps to get you noticed.

I wish that I has a couple of months before it gets hot. Texas winter leaves soo fast. As soon as the last Canadian cold front is gone, it's hot within two weeks. We will be seeing mid nineties by the end of April.

So I finally sucked it up and started to work out the right side rearset. Not quite done, but in the home stretch. The left side will be easy once I get all of the rear brake, return spring issues worked out on the right side.

This is what I have so far. I took these pictures after my son and I went for our bicycle ride, and the light was fading. I find that my camera doesn't deal well with artificial light. By tomorrow, I should have the heelguard fabbed, and I'll try to get some better shots then.

Sorry, no integrated license plate light. That's one of those things that goes unchecked in Texas, so not an issue for me. I really like that light. You don't even need the flasher for the turn signals. With the "black box" for the sequential flashers attached it automatically does its thing with a constant 12V. So often, led blinkers do not present enough resistance for the flasher and you get the fast flash problem as if you had a light bulb burned out.
