Just run a NEW tack cloth over the parts just before you shoot the clear. Be sure to unfold the tack rag completely, then loosly wad it up and lightly run it over your parts. If there is any tape residue (which I highly doubt) the tack cloth will snag on it. Then you can use some paint cleaning solvent to gently remove it. Gentle smooth swipes with the tack cloth without letting it sit on your base coat.....the "tack" resin in the cloth will transfer to your painted surface, giving you something else to clean, after your done cleaning :P

Unless you've already cleared, in that case disregard until the next time :)

Doubledub, that's funny. If I were to drop into a halfpipe on that thing, it would be a guaranteed trip to the ER. I never skated even when I was a kid. I was more of a freestyle BMX type of guy.

Thanks for the pointer porchev. I haven't shot my clear yet. I was going strong until Brandy got home. She wanted to go out to eat, so I had to fold up the body shop. The tech sheet says I have 24hrs to spray the clear, so I'll get back to it in the morning. I have re-enforcements on parenting duties tomorrow, so hopefully I can get an early start. I'm super happy with that blue color. I was apprehensive about spraying the pearl, but it looks good to me. Can't wait to see it in the sun.

How long do you think I should wait before I mount my emblems? I don't want them to leave an impression in the clear.

I was pretty cautious with mine, waited at least a week. Someone else could probably give you a better timeline, but it will depend some on humidity and temp, I would think.

I wouldn't put them on for at least a week. I know you'll be itching to see what it looks like, but resist man! Even after that first 3-4 days, you can mount the emblem but dont snug them down.

That's cool. I have to refurb the paint on the tank emblems any way. I'll just take my sweet time.

Looks like we will have another warm day tomorrow, so with any luck, I can get the clear laid down, and pull it all out of the garage. Then I can gingerly set my bodywork back on the bike and get a good daytime shot. It's going to be really cool. That pearl blue should have a lot of depth. I'm surprised how glossy it is without any clear yet.

I still need to round up all the goodies to color sand and buff the new paint.

The one word response that he usually gives is "turdpunchers", so yeah that's an above and beyond compliment :P

Well, let hope I didn't screw up the whole deal by shooting clear. That is a different experience to anything else I have painted. We'll see in a couple of hours.

I swear I haven't had one problem with bugs or dust since I built the bubble. This morning I went out there to get set up, and there was a housefly buzzing around in there. I chased his little ass around for 15 minutes before I finally got him. Damned if they aren't all around my garage today. It's been drizzling all morning. Does the rain have something to do with the flys? Who knows?

I'm gonna try and poke the camera in there and snap a picture. Hopefully I don't let another fly in. Wish me luck.
