Turbo??:blink: :blink: :woohoo: :woohoo: Awesome!! The lines look great. I just ordered some of the push lock fittings myself for my oil cooler. It seems really weird not using clamps, but they say they are good to 250 PSI. I guess we'll find out!

Keep us posted on the "next phase" for sure!! Thanks for the pics.

Thanks:) The next 'phase' will be a while I'm sure, and will be on a second engine, but I am very optimistic. I also felt hesitant at first about no clamps or the tightening of a regular -AN fitting, until they went together.
I am assuming you ordered the appropriate hose for push-on fittings?:whistle::)

Be sure to use a few drops of oil in the end of the hose and on the barbs of the fittings or they will never go in. Once installed, you would have to cut them out/off because the connection is so firm. I messed up one in the -4 AN size and had to carefully slice down the hose enough to peel it back in order to get the fitting out :sick: :angry: I forget which, but one manufacturer has a zip-line in the hose so you can get the fittings out when necessary.
I have no doubts now that the hose and fitting combo will hold without clamps.
Post up some pics of your setup when you can...

anyone know if the gpz oil line fitting at the motor will fit a z1 ? the z1 does not hve provition for all of these lines.
Tux. I guess the gpz fitting must be differant in order to allow the oil to go in and out of the motor within the same fitting?? is that right?

Yea, I paid for the "correct" hose. I'm very tempted to try some other hose I have, but I'm afraid it might leak. I only have the fittings on the cooler so far, I'll include a pic. I'm going to run the lines outside of the engine this time, so that's why the lines are pointing to the side. I used a lot of oil and it was still tough to get them seated. I don't think they'll leak, but it will still take some getting used to (not having a clamp). Mine are the Jegs brand fittings. "push lok", I think.

The Z1/KZ fitting has to be replaced with a pair of fittings to add an oil cooler. I don't think the GPZ fitting will fit, but I'm sure someone will verify. I've seen the fittings for the GPZ for sale and they look quite different. I think it's a totally different set up for the GPZ's and J's. Here's the regular KZ fittings. I think the GPZ is flat (both inlets on one plane)

Yes, there is a difference in the two engine series. The "J" engine oil ports from the pump to the main galley are on the same plane and the bypass housing is flat on the bottom. The "Z" cases have two separate ports in a stepped configuration as shown in 79MKII's photo.
Specifically, the "GPz" model oil cooler bypass just happens to have a cast-in boss on the pump side that can be drilled and tapped and I used it for the cam-oiler circuit.

Looks good:) At such low pressure you could probably get away with different hose but the nagging doubt might make me crazy:silly:
With the right hose I don't have a care in the world about leaking(so far anyway:lol: ). I plan to use the stuff for my EFI setup I am so happy with the current results.

Well...I did actually crank it up finally this past Saturday:woohoo:! Kind of Jaw-Dropping in that I was so happy nothing blew up or out:lol:! It has not run since I had the cylinders bored for the 1170 pistons. I slapped on some old 26mm carbies and it truly did kick over in about 3 to 4 seconds of cranking...very exciting. Feels good to have it 'work' on the first go-round. I have some rebuild kits, rubber choke caps, and jetting coming from Z1(thanks Rob!)for the BS34 set I picked up. The bodies are all cleaned and prepped and ready to re-assemble

I can verify that the top oiler experiment works so far without a hitch. After shuting down the engine I first pulled the fittings going into the head and had oil there. I next pulled the valve cover off and could detect where the engine oil had displaced the assembly lube in the cam bearing area. So, it workedB)!! The oil cooler arrangement works as well and I am very happy there also.
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Next will be a road test with careful monitoring and I think some thread locker on the fittings to help with any paranoia about things coming loose :S.
I'll post the longer term performance results as available.

Hi Bad Kaw, I made an admittedly crappy cell-phone video of a static test in the garage to check for leaks and such...and also just to listen to it run for a while. The 1170 kit makes a distinct difference from stock and was well worth the $$.
As I stated, it is a short, cell phone video so don't judge too harshly about the sound quality!
