Front Sprocket rotational play? was created by aka Nasa
Hi all.  New guy here.  Bike is a 1980 KZ650.  I bought new chain and sprockets and while mounting the front sprocket, noticed that while in gear, it would ROTATE clockwise and counterclockwise (back and forth rotationally) about the equivalent of 1 full notch (tooth to tooth).  That equates to about 22 degrees free play.  I couldn't find a spec on that anywhere.  Is that normal or should it be much tighter?  Its the same movement in all 5 gears.

I'm kind'a new to bikes.  Help greatly appreciated.  Yes, I searched to forums. Nothing came up. Hope i was entering the right terminology.

If you mean that the output shaft has some rotational movement within the gearbox when in gear and not the actual sprocket on the shaft then YES! that is normal and due to accumulative backlash throughout the gears and primary drive.
