Hate to start by saying this but hello im new to this site, actually all sites.

I have a 1984 KZ 700 A1 Sport. unfortunately it was only made that one year so parts are a pain to get. The bike has sat for several years and now I need a gas tank, it has rusted to the point that it no longer can be fixed. I have looked but can't find any listing new or used.
Does anyone know of what year and model will fit?
I saw other year and model KZ's 500, 550, 750, 1000's most KZ's some others..

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated..

Welcome to the site. Here you will find everything you want to know about old Kawasakis but were afraid to ask! Good luck with finding a replacement tank but if you cant find one you can make your own.Have a look here;

Even if you dont want to make your own tank,this is a great series of videos. A good way to waste a Sunday afternoon. ( even if it is a Honda!!)

I believe the only tanks that will fit are the 82 KZ750-R1 GPz, 83 KZ750-L3 & of course the 700-A1. They all look the same & use the same rear mounting bracket. Any other tank will most likely require some sort of modification. I'd guess that the 750E standard tank would be the next closest match, but the fit probably won't be very good. just a guess.

Just an fyi, there are some non-USA models that probably used the same tank, such as the 750-L1/L2/L4.

Martin is right about the interchange. Other parts from those bikes will interchange too. Your bike is basically a debored KZ750L3. it was only built one year because there was an extra tariff on bikes over 700cc supposedly to protect H-D sportster sales. It didn't stick so the KZ700A went away.

If you want a direct replacement you are really going to have to look everywhere constantly and hope the person that has it doesn't know what they have.

The bikes with the same tank were more popular in Europe. If you drop the "K" from the designation, i.e. Z750, you might find a few more but shipping it will offset any savings in price.
