Can anyone confirm if Bob is still doing gauge rehab work?

I sent him an email last Saturday and have not heard back just yet. I realize it was sent no too long ago, so perhaps he just hasn’t been able to get a reply to me.

Thanks for the feedback. I was going to reach out to Clay regarding a carburetor question anyway. Now I have another reason to connect with him.

Good Morning!! If Bob doesn't get back to you let me know how i can help. What bike are you working on? Reason i ask is because i only do stuff on 1980 and older Z/KZ 650/750/900/1000's and triples. The gauges started to change around 1980. bigger diameter and electrically driven to note some changes.

Hey Clay,

It’s a 80 G1 Classic that I am in the process of converting from FI to a carb setup. I’ll shoot you a text or will call you a little later in the day today (Thursday).

Matt

Cool. I did some research to preempt  some legitimacy for a conversation regarding the "classic". Yuppers, same type gauges i work on with the exception, another classic gov decision, 85MPH speedo. Both cable driven so that's up my alley. Quick question, we'll probably cover it in conversation but didn't the Classic have that weird head with the different spacing for the injection butterfly assembly? They were, from memory, evenly spaced rather than the larger spacing between #2&3 cylinders. Like Jim (Wheelhop), just call 8163658687

There's one on FB ripping people off.
We have a few competitors restoring KZ 650- Z1 900-KZ 1000 gauges but not a one of them offers the customer a brand new black powder coated top cover, new glass, new glass seal, polished screws...or a machine polished connector ring like we do at Z-Resto, for EVERY gauge restoration. All of that is included in the $149.00 each gauge restoration price. Plus if you need replica face plates...drive units, connector rings, or any other gauge parts....we have them all, in stock, all the time. And if you don't have ANY gauges for your bike...we sell OEM restored gauges for any year KZ650...Z1....KZ900....KZ1000....or Z1R. Turnaround time? No one beats us at that either. Turnaround time when busy is 8 days. When not so busy ...3 days. Next time you select a gauge restorer...ask yourself if you want top covers that are patched up with bondo and then painted.....un polished old connector rings...old scratched glass lens,....dry rotted rubber seals etc etc. We know the answer. No one beats Z-Resto on cost or quality or turnaround time.

Please explain Steve about saying a ripoff? Not official site on facebook? 150 bucks is a smoking deal but i;m going to assume that would be if all mechanical parts and gauge face/registers sent were re-usable and in great shape. If anyone is into Triple restoration i'm sure the name Don Fulsang might sound familiar, he does gauges too. His focus is on the triples but i;m sure he can do the Z's too. Talked to him a couple years ago, can't remember how we had gotten hooked-up? But, like Bob, he quit working on the 69-early 70's H1 F7 gauges so he passed my name on to others. Wonder where Bob had gotten that Z2 speedo faceplate replacement Mcdroid?

Ah, he was unable to source a new Z2 faceplate...but, mine was in decent enough shape to re-use the original.

There's a couple guys competing with Z Resto on FB. One seems legit while another has been accused of charging and keeping the units. It has nothing to do with us. Also FB is infested with scammers and ransom sites. The scammers will respond to your post, look in your friends list and send their porn site crap in their reply. If you report them all that happens is you get more. I had 138 of them yesterday. I don't bother reporting them anymore but the ransom site looks like a new message but when you open them they freeze your computer with a look alike MS defender  page telling you not to shutdown the computer and call a 800 number. It hasn't infected it yet but if you call they will try to talk you into letting them fix it for a fee. At that point they GOT YOU. It happened to me 3 times. The first time I gave him a few choice words until he hung up, shut down my computer, restarted it, went to history and picked the windows I wanted open leaving the FB page closed. I'm convinced FB is allowing this crap and is behind it.
Steve
