I'm leaning towards this one, based on price and size. My fear is that it will be too wide, but it's short.

I'd take a piece of cardboard, cut to size and see what it looks like.

Possible option. ZR750 ZR7 ZR7S oil cooler .
just an example. there are quite a few others listed.
If not this application, maybe it could be used on a different model.

ZR750 ZR7/ZR7S w electronic tachometer (no tach cable).

I do like that, and the price is right, not sure on those fittings tho, look like the bolt on oring sealed deal. Might be enough there to use a hose clamp on, not sure I'd want to do that.

I'll give it another read Steve.

There's also been a new development, not sure why I didn't start with this place.
There's a place about 45 min away who has a HUGE selection of old jap bike parts.
I got in touch with him amd he said he has HUNDREDS of oil coolers.
Once I get the bike running I'll ride it there and start looking so I can size it up ON the bike.

Earl's makes some nice braided hose and matching hose ends if you want a righteous setup. It's kind of overkill though. They make some nice coolers too that aren't overly expensive. Made in the USA and high quality stuff. It's worth the money in my opinion. Photos below show an Earl's cooler and line I put on a bike I had.

Earl's is the best setup going, end of question!!!! Screw them rubber hoses with hose clamps holding them on to the cooler. If you have ever seen a cooler line come loose, or a cooler split, you know what I mean. Guess where all that oil ends up on?????

I was holding a Lockhart type oil cooler for someone here for the last couple months... guess he isn't interested in it.
Here it is compared to the KZ one I got from that old KZ1000LTD....

Yeah I think yours was pretty smashed up though.
With respect to smashed up coolers, I've combed those fins out before and got them to look respectable... Well, after painting them satin or flat black.

That cooler on the left looks like an automatic transmission fluid cooler. Not a motorcycle part, originally anyway.
