So my engine will be going back together over the next few days (I hope). Kz900 bottom end with 1000 cylinders and a 10.25:1 wiseco 1075 kit.

I has come to my attention that an oil cooler would be a good idea.
I've got the aluminum adapters with fitting for the lines ordered. I'm wondering what core is popular and fits well.

I'm not in love with the idea of running big rubber lines all over the place either, I've seen some old posts where stainless gas flex line was discussed but I've not seen it in practice.

Open to advice, thanks.

I got my cooler from a member and had to adapt it to 1/2 not 3/8". These are high volume/low pressure systems. The coolers aren't too expensive by themselves. 118 tomorrow, I'm glad I did it. B)

So I need 1/2" lines? 3/8 won't cut it?

If so how about something like this.

How wide is it. I went 1/2" so there will be no restrictions. It goes from the cooler, to the main bearings, tranny and the top end.

If the fittings are 1/4" NTP just make sure the cooler and lines are this big or larger and you are fine.

Earl's makes some nice braided hose and matching hose ends if you want a righteous setup. It's kind of overkill though. They make some nice coolers too that aren't overly expensive. Made in the USA and high quality stuff. It's worth the money in my opinion. Photos below show an Earl's cooler and line I put on a bike I had.

Nessism, do you recall if that was 11.5" wide?
I'm workkng on a bike that I had a few hundred bucks set aside to fix, my parts total so far is $1150.
Don't think an expensive setup is going to be possible at this point, ha!

It does look nice!

Yes, 11.5" wide. That's to the outside edge of the mounting flanges. The coolers like I used are $114 from ANplumbing.com

A big cooler is nice and all but if you are running a mechanical tach drive the cable may restrict how large a cooler you can use.
