Sprocket?

Yeah, the counter sprocket is on there just as much as the rotor. I tried everything on it and it's not budging. I need to remove it to crack the cases though, so once I get the sprocket off I can split the cases, take the crank out and then work on cutting the rotor off when I have better access to it.

"I need to remove it to crack the cases"...

Are you sure about that.... I didn't on my 900/early 1000 but I'm learning new things on these other motors so I guess it's a requirement....

From what I can tell I need to remove the sprocket to remove the shifter mechanism cover because it is held on by the shift shaft. I need to remove the sprocket anyways, so might as well cut it off now rather than later.

you should get a J bike and join the fun!

there are 2 things that are stuck on, the c/s sprocket, and the alternator rotor, that's it. I am removing the sprocket so I can more easily remove the rotor. I hope the rest of this motor isn't such a pita!

I have had these items off of 2 separate "J" motors in the last 8 months. I am just flabbergasted.  If done in the correct order of disassembly they come right off. :pinch: Matter of fact I removed my CS sprocket about 4 times off of my GPz1150 and I use an impact wrench to put it on every time.
