hahaha, get it?

Anyways the point of this was to actually find out the proper way of removing the alternator rotor. The manual for my kz1000 doesn't really say, it just says to attach the remover tool. The other day I read on here that the rear axle fits into the rotor, and it does, but now what? I have yanked on it as hard as I can, and banged away from the motor in an attempt to yank it off, but no go. Any suggestions?

as in tighten the axle into the rotor? I thought this would maybe push the rotor off of the crank, but it seemed to do nothing and I didn't want to overdo it.

if it fits perfectly....tighten it against the crank until it has a reasonable amount of pressure...really tight just not to the point of stripping the threads...then give the end of the bolg a "sharp" rap with a hammer...

a sharp rap against the top of the bolt? would that not just push the rotor back onto the crank?

Patton is right, you have to put a large ball bearing in and then the bolt. Tighten the bolt down and the bearing should "bear" on the end of the crankshaft, thus pushing the rotor off. A little impact like irishwill says, should help as well.

ok, there seems to be no give whatsoever. How do you keep the rotor from spinning when you are tightening the axle in?

Just so that I am not making a dumb mistake, the bolt that was in the crank originally is not part of this procedure right? I am putting a ball bearing into the hole so that the axle I am threading in pushes against the inside part where the bolt originally was and separates off right?

here we go again...wrenchin' winter number 2!

Do you have the Impact Driver that you hit on the end with a hammer, or a pneumatic impact wrench? I used the hand Impact Driver, go as tight as it will then give the end of the axle a good smack, repeat. Came right off.

I don't have any impact wrench at all. Do I need to get one for this?
