Possibly I missed it but why are you doing this anyways?

Example, want to get the crank welded... Well hell that's easy... Since you have to split the cases to give them the crank, have them PRESS :ohmy: the damn thing off.... ;)

Ah well, you're a big guy... Beat :blink: the living piss out of the thing with a 2 pounder, it'll come off sooner or later....

Besides, it'll make ya feel better... :laugh:

umm, I am not beating on it with a 2 pounder, I tried that. Nothing has worked so I am waiting on a rotor puller bolt from fastenal and am using an impact gun to take it off like people have recommended.

I am taking it off because I am taking the motor apart and am getting the crank welded like you said, but I have never taken a rotor off, and have never seen inside. I would like to take every little thing out of this motor and make it as new and strong as possible, and I want to do as much of this myself, so I can say when I am done that I have seen and refreshed every single inch of the motor. Just like last year, maybe I am not doing things the way you would have, but at least...



For some reason people seem to think I am not taking advice, maybe it's because they don't feel like reading through 7 pages of bullshit, but I have taken into account everybody's method and tried them all. I have tried beating the shit out of it, using a spacer inside the rotor hole to push it off the crank while turning and banging a bolt, heating it etc. everything but the air gun, which is next.

i know, I wasn't saying anything about you, but I noticed a couple people seemed to get angry for some reason. I hope to end this thread soon, it got old like last week, just want it over so I can continue with my work. I got my new ELR seat and sidecovers, tail and header in the mail, so my old thread will soon be resurrected! woohoo

ur having the crank welded on a J motor bike?U gonna drag race with it?I have never heard of anyone breaking the crank on a J bike unless they were seriously abusing it.But, to each his own.good luck getting the thing apart and I hope it goes fast.bj
