If you're going to keep the machine you won't regret it.

I I can't find an readily apparent electrical fault, I think I will start a full tear down to frame. All the brakes need attention, front fork seals, wheel and steering bearing checks, rear unit inspection, flush and refill, tires, headlight, front turn bushings, seat cover, grips, paint buff try, rear shock inspection and on and on. Gonna take back the garage and start a dis assembly line. Hopefully the oil leak is not major, but I am sure the engine would benefit from new gasket and seals across the board, if not a new rings and hone, valve lap etc. Lots to do. R

How much did you pay for it? I paid too much for my 80 kz 1000E shaft.

Well given the electrical problems I am having am considering plan B. Save up and replace all electrical probably 5-800$ There are coils, rectifier, igniter and general old wiring to deal with. Other option is to pull the loom, put it on a board and comb throughredo. Not so sure that's any cheaper than buying a remade one. I wouldn't mind if I could hear it run, but it is frustrating. I could be in for the work and needing a new motor anyway. I really like this model though- shaft, beefy frame, bags, tank, all things I like. I suppose it's worth it. Thy will be done :)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationYou could try a Dyna S $139 and go from there. You could buy a used Reg/Rect to see if that helps and buy a new one later.

You might be right about the short behind the battery box. I'd check that first. All the other issues may go away.

Yep just reluctant to fry any new parts if I can't find a short. Will be tracing through it all. I think total replacement is the likey outcome, but will need to save up some. It won't tak long to be upside down, but I didn't pay a lot for this POS. :)

Mu loom is 40 years old. I've run three new wires and cleaned up some bad connectors.
