My understanding is that an ignition coil remains equally functional even if suspended in mid-air, and doesn't require a heat sync.

However, I vaguely recall that KZr member loudhvx :cheer: has posted information about how securing the coil in the factory manner whereby the core is conductive to the bike frame does serve to slightly improve the function of the coil.
But I don't recall the specifics, or maybe didn't comprehend or absorb the electronic mysteries involved as to how securing of the coil has any effect on collapse of the magnetic field causing high tension voltage throughout the secondary loop.

Coil charges while primary winding is grounded through the points or electronic ignition.

Coil fires when primary wiring becomes ungrounded .

Good Fortune! :)

Well I would expect the coil to need to be grounded for the above reasons, but the heat dissipation I see as secondary.

The bike did run fine idling while I had the coils just hanging off of the wiring harness.

I fried some coils that way. Tar started coming out of one of them. I fasten them solidly now.

Are you sure the battery will work on it's side?

Yes it's a splillproof AGM battery for powersports, and was recommended by the battery store.

Not much happening except some wiring. Bought a project box from RadioShack and am stuffing it with all the electrical stuff I can get in there. Then I'll mount it to the front of the battery bracket.

Started up and rolled outside. Not ready to take a test ride yet, doesn't run well without choke on.

Beginning stages of a custom seat pan? I say yes!
Followed the line on the tank from the old seat ... but may refine that with more of a point rather than a curve. Rear isn't figured out yet but I taped it up to see how it looks. Will probably mount the stock fender rotated into the bike to have a small 6" fender behind the seat.
