Tis comfy indeed and it also makes the position of the rearsets feel a bit more normal. Blind luck on that one to be honest!!

Yup,Im glad its done. Next thing is the flush fitting fuel cap. In the post. Waiting waiting. Still got to finalize the electrics, then once the fuel cap is sorted , I can jump into the painting. Tailpiece and f/mudguard are already in primer, though I still havent decided on colours yet.

Its not a weld in cap its a straight bolt in one. I did have a bandit600 cap with drain tubes and breather etc but I couldnt find a welder willing to take it on so I found a place in England (thank Z1OCUK) that sell bolt in caps. I posted a picture earlier of the first one I got but that wasnt going to work,as it wasnt waterproof(!) so I changed it for a sealed unit with a seperate breather.Looks pretty much the same only it has a lock and its in silver rather than black. (Ill probably reanodise it black ). Just waiting on the posty.

Well,it finally arrived.Again, not the one I ordered (no lock). The quality looks good but I cant recommend these people based on the length of time it took to finally get the wrong one again!
Anyway,I decided to go with it rather than risk returning it and waiting, god knows how long to maybe get the locking one I wanted.
This is a sealed cap (hopefully) with a seperate breather valve.Ill run a hose off that to somewhere up by the clocks, a la early GSXR or dirtbike tanks .

Then my camera battery died. So,no pictures of the fitting process but ill post some fitted and finished pictures soon. It was pretty straight forward anyway and Im happy with how it came out. Now I can start thinking of paint.

How do the nuts stay in the tank, if you see what I mean, I can see that you need to cut a hole for the cap and drill holes for the bolts, but how do you get the nuts on the bolts.

I'm interested in fitting one of these to my J

In the first photo of the previous post you can see the a 'C' ring. This has the nuts welded onto it. It goes inside the tank and you bolt the main body down to that ,sandwiching the tank skin and a rubber gasket in between. The opening in the 'C' goes to the front and allows the breather valve space to be mounted. Hope that makes sense.

Loving the tank cap, I might have missed it but where did you pick it up? I love the more modern style, it matches my intentions but I was hesitant to cut and weld on as others have done, this bolt on options looks fantastic!
