Ok. Nuther swingarm ordered off t'interweb. ( very cheap). Ill chop it up and see whats possible. Cant see any way around it. Ill keep the old one on for now and crack on with the rest of the build. If I can get the new one to work,Ill get some new shock mounts made up and welded on. A bit further out and maybe a bit back as well. More time and money. Live and learn.
Anyway, the carbs spent the other day in the jacuzzi. Nice and clean. I blasted the float bowls and tops with the idea of anodizing them but I buggered that up so Ill probably just paint them. Figure it out at the weekend.
I also had a go at fitting the airbox. The airbox isnt going to fit!! The bracing that was put in when the frame was straightened is in the way,so itll be K&Ns
( let the airbox/pods fight begin......again!!!)
Thats about it for now. Waiting on the speedo cable and Ill have to find some replacement main jets big enough to deal with the Wiseco and the K&Ns.
Getting there.

Didn't go back and read but, if you are using CV carbs they will work with good pods but, you should use a stage 3 dynojet kit, I'm no fan of pods myself but I know 2 guys that use K&N's with the stage 3 kit using BS34 carbs and both bikes idle well and go like stink.... ;)

Your project is coming along well.
Would using shorter shocks bring the chain up enough?
That is if there is enough clearance above the wheel.

i'm sure it's prolly nuthin you wanna do but  .
but i've seen guys raise the engine for cornering clearance.
this is the first pic i've found to demonstrate but have seen several of the Japanese do it to kz's they we're road racing.

Z1r, Yes,theyre CV carbs . BS34s,I think. From what Ive been told, upping the main jets to 140 and maybe a washer on the needle should be enough to get the bike running,.Thats all Im looking for to start with. Im sure there are going to be lots of things to sort out after the initial shakedown, then maybe Ill look into a Dynojet kit.

Rstnick, I have to check the clearance twixt wheel and undertray and the travel of the shocks that I have (theyre on the lowest setting already),Ill do that this weekend. It might be a possability but Im going to have a go with the replacement swingarm and see how much clearance I can gain from ginding the edge out of it . ( Ill take some photos)

Leon, Youre talking about major surgery there!!! No idea how that would work and with this frame,I wouldnt waste the money. I would rather strip everything out of the bike, put it all into storage until I can save the money for a Harris,Spondon or Bakker frame.

Thanks all,for the suggestions anyway. Keep em coming.

FYI. It seems you cant anodise float bowls or carb tops!! I suppose its because theres too much other stuff in them other than aluminium.
However. The result you get from 'trying' to anodise them is quite interesting. So, Ive done that and put some clear coat on them. (pictures to follow). They look pretty good.
Other than that, I sanded back the tank and plastics and gave them a coat of spray putty. I clear coated the side panel things that I made and I resprayed the rearsets (they were already a mess). Ill clearcoat them tomorrow.
I also ordered a set of 140 jets, should come next week. As should the speedo cable.
A box of K&Ns arrived yesterday, which was nice and another GSXR600 swingarm turned up today.
So that gives me a lot to play with over the coming week.
Onward and upward.

This is the swingarm.
I am not gone use it so you can have it if you want.
I don't know from which bike it came but for sure it was a single shock.
You have to make/buy brackets and can put them as far back as you can.
