And that's the problem it's not a stock 1015 it's a 903 with a 1015 kit. No,I do not want to go back into this SOB when I'm done!!!! All I want to do is have a bike that runs well enough that I won't have to do much to for a few years, yet drive to work some days and take to the track twice a month when I'm off on Thursdays. I read a thread that OMR posted in and linked a kit from overstockparts pistons and block for $700, depending on if I can reuse my sleeves I may just pull the trigger on one of those and call it a day.

Bore is 70mm same as the pistons but again my calipers are crap. The 73.5 was the outer measurement of the sleeve at the bottom. So according to the Wiseco site I can use the 1045 pistons even if my sleeves are stock 903 overbored to 1015 with another overbore to the 1045?

I wounder if someone on forum has a 903 or 1015 cyclinder that is slightly used and can boltup and go.....for less cabbage.....would this be something you would be intrestested in doing? on the 1075 or 1105 that is the inner dia of the cyclinder.

I would be interested for the right price ,guess I should put a wanted post up, the only thing is with the $700 kit everything is ready to go, no machining, comes with everything.
Right, but afaik 1015 bore is the largest you can go without possibly having to machine the case for the 1045+ sleeves, I'd like to avoid this. I don't know if someone put in 1015 sleeves from a 1000 or bored the 903 to 1015. I guess the real question if it's 903 sleeves can I overbore to 1045 and still be ok? That would save me tons of money. And how do I tell of they are 903 or 1015 sleeves?
Edit- Well after reading an old Jeff Saunders post from another site apparently they are 903 sleeves since with the 1015 overbore that would remove 2mm of material leaving 2mm wall and that's what I have. He also stressed going to a 1045 kit with the 903 sleeves is a bad idea so I guess I'm back to square one. I'll call a few machine shops and see how much cutting the case will be...if I'm going to all this trouble, a 1045 kit will still leave me some room for a later overbore.

if the 1 u have is hitting the cam cover. it stands to reason that it is the wrong one for your bike.

True, but if you look at the schematic on bike bandit for the kz900 it looks the same as mine but mine has a nut welded to one side and a 10mm headed bolt....I'm thinking someone cobbed it with a newer idler at some point. And the rubber mounts were mushed all to be damned.

Little update guys, I got my idlers back from Leon and they look great! Thanks again Leon, you're a lifesaver. Waiting to hear back from John Pearson as he found some bad mojo on my crank :S , if he's not able to find another I'm thinking of just letting him rebuild it since finding another and then sending it to him will put me in for another $200. For another $100 he said he'll go through the whole crank so either way I'm shelling out $500+/-. The trans has a shadetree backcut already(some jerkoff with a Dremel tool  ), hopefully when he trues up everything he won't get into the hardening. I'll have 2 weeks off for Christmas so I think it's time to clean my cases up and get some other things ready...kind of dragging my feet lately after finding out the crank was SNAFUed. Anyone wanna offer a kick in the pants?

Did John talk to you about going to a thrust needle bearing on crank....if you can pop the $80 or so for it....I would strongly rec it. Ask him!!

sc/ant864 wrote: Thanks Leon, I really appreciate that man. I noticed some wear on the inside of the cam cover and tried to show it in the pics I posted as well as the cracked rubber isolaters on the chain bearing, that thing must have been wiggling around alot, could the cam cover be on backward or are they symmetrical? Another thing I noticed once I got the engine out of the frame that I forgot to mention is the drive sproket was loose so I tried to turn the locknut and the damn thing was loose, like I spun it off with one finger. Thank god I didn't try to ride this thing, I can just imagine that nut coming off at 60 mph and locking everything down, tossing me like The Goose in Mad Max.

You need to get at leist a 700 pound air impact gun or someone who has or can hit it for you to install this nut. I purchased one from Harbor Freight for under $100 bucks. When I purchased my bike there was no nut on output shaft.... and I rode it a bit.

He sure did and it was toasted along with the number 1 thrust bearing. That needle bearing apparently gets a lot of horizontal side load, he noted they usually need replacing when PO has done a fair share of hard launches. :

I'm sure i can get ahold of one but the HF is a good option if i can't.
Thanks for the heads up bro! :)
