Well crap. Turns out my forks are not 2010 ZX10 but 2011 Ninja 1000. So my newly arrived front axle does not fit. I need one from a Ninja 1000, 07-11 Versys, 10-11 ZR1000 or 05-06 ZR750.

Not many pictures but I made some good progress. Finished the shock brackets and got it all primed. Slash cut the exhaust while waiting for the primer to dry, took about 5" out, right before the last baffle. Sounds much better.

I finally figured how I wanted to mount the seat. I want to keep it quick release. Am putting a cam lock in the center instead of on the side like KZs. The stock lock won't fit but a toolbox type will. So I ran to Lowes for a lock and got in a collision. Yay. At the hospital now having my 8mo pregnant wife checked over, good so far.

Got my seat lock figured out. The seat side bracket needs to be redone, it latches but I put a locator stud on it which will go on a frame tab to prevent lateral movement and it's too close to the frame right now.

The cylinder isn't just popped through the tube, I welded in a washer to give a flat surface to snug up against and smoothed it all out. I left the back rounded and am debating whether to do the same.

Thanks. I didn't want to lose the easy storage option by bolting it down solid. I usually stash my gloves and head condom under there.

I found this pic on DTT and it inspires me to finish, the spokes, dual discs and USDs look amazing together.

Should have taken the pic from the other side to show of the plate too but it's peeking out so you get the idea. Lights are on!

I have to request a video documenting the sound of your slash cut exhaust. I've been thinking about doing the same thing, would love the reference...

You've got good taste, man. I'm liking where this bike is headed. A real personal project for sure.

Ah, another thing I forgot to mention - what are your thoughts on lowering the rear?

I'll see about making one. I think it's much improved, not annoying Harley loud but a lot louder than it was. With helmet on I could not hear it at idle in traffic without straining. It does have a nasty flat spot at 3k (no tach, I'm guessing) that needs to be tuned out now.

I'm debating lowering. At first I wanted to jack it up to more cafe stance but now that it is up a little more I'm leaning back to dropping. I'll wait til the front is done to decide.

Looks awesome! You should do your front forks before your final decision is made on the stance? Are you sticking with the same rear suspension?
