advancer bolt was bent -- Am thinking that's the bolt that screws into the end of the crank shaft.

Any noticeable wobble at end of the crankshaft while engine is idling?

Good Fortune! :)

Wobbled bad with the bent bolt but after replacing it it seems to be gone.

Luckily the case is clean enough to eat off so it shouldn't be hard to find them if they're there. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm thinking by your response that you think the cracks will be on the outside and visible. Au contraire (sp?) The cracks, if there, will probably be on the inside in one of the three main bearing webs that support the crank. If you don't want to tear the engine down, and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, measure the crank end play with a dial indicator on the advancer bolt. You'll have to take the alternator cover off to push the crank back and forth. If that checks out OK, listen very carefully to the internal parts with a mechanics stethoscope while its idling to detect unusual clanks or clunks or rubbing noises inside. You'd be amazed at what you can hear with one of those things. Personally if it were mine with that history and damage to your bike and my history with mine, I'd take it all apart and check and measure everything for piece of mind. But that's me. I like to take things apart to see what makes them work, or not work. I also don't like surprises on the road away from home. Good luck and may the moto gods look favorably on you.

Well crap, now I'm worried. Further inspection will be in order I guess.

Yes it is. The up side is, inspection is cheap. BTW good looking bike. I would have liked to find it myself. I used to have an XS650 Yammy and still have a fondness for vertical twins.

Anybody know what temperature range these bikes should run at? I picked up some temp stickers, meant for dirt bikes but I'm going to use them on my bikes instead of gauges. For example the normal operating range of my last ZX6R was usually 160-220F. Most of my riding is city so airflow is not optimal, keeping an eye on the temp would be good.

Cleaned up the tail a bit with junk I've hoarded. Took about 6" out of the fender and slid it back.

Clip-ons changed the feel in a hurry. Need shorter cables now.

Bah! This thing is literally falling apart under me. I took it on a 30 mile trip on the freeway and the left passenger peg and right side cover fell off at some point.

Very smart. I might not replace it though, we'll see where the bike ends up after more mods.
