Thanks.....nice to be able to make progress for a change instead of waiting around for parts to show up. My goal is to have it running again sometime this weekend.

Will do....I have almost everything back together now.I still have a couple of wires to find mating connectors for and I just got back home with the new oil.As soon as I grab something to eat, I'll be back on it. I got the fairing reinstalled but still need to find some missing pieces. One of my parts containers got knocked over and now I'm finding out which pieces didn't get found. I may have to move everything out of the garage to find the rest of them.

I was going to order the decal kit from aegraphics, but after seeing how much it was with shipping included, I decided to make my own. So I went outside and started on the red inserts on the tank and side covers. I sprayed the side covers today but will have to spray the tank some other time. First I will have to make a painting mask to apply to the tank to leave the area, where the "Kawasaki" decal goes, black. Then I will spray the red and peel off the mask and I will have an area that will remain black. Then I will make a gold "Kawasaki" decal to apply to the tank and clear coat over.

Are you going to take pics of all the steps involved in doing it yourself? Sounds cool

Its probably to late to document all the steps. But I can do some of them.Today I made the paint mask for the "Kawasaki" on the tanks sides.I would have sprayed the red over it today but the temperature never got high enough.Tomorrow looks better. Here is one of the side covers with the red insert painted on but before the clear coat has been applied.I still need to make the "750turbo" decals to go on the sidecovers before clearcoating.

Here is the tank taped off with the paint mask applied. After I spray the red I will peel off this silver paint mask to reveal the black underneath where the gold outlined "Kawasaki" decal will be applied and then clear coated.

A little change in plans. I checked the price of gold vinyl. One yard of the good stuff is twice as much as a can of spray paint. And I would probably never need gold again. So I decided to paint the lettering on instead of doing gold decals.I went to the local auto parts store and bought a can of Sunburst Gold Dupli-color in a spray can.I'll still make a decal to use as a paint mask, but now I can use up some scrap cheap vinyl I already have laying around. Today is warming up nicely so I should be able to continue painting in a couple of more hours.

Sounds good I am interested in the process you are using. Do you cut the vinyl by hand or are you using a computer? Pics?

That's looking really good!
I'm glad Kawasaki painted the turbo differently to the rest of the GPz range in'84. I like the paint from that year on the rest of the range, but even after 25 years the turbo looks soooo classy! :)
