They just passed a new law preventing DYI auto repairs. I ignore it of course as do most of us.
AZ and OR are still pumping out parts so I say we are winning on that front.

Seriously they passed a law banning DYI auto repairs? Are they going to shut down the auto parts stores? Sounds like the People's Republic of Kalifornia has gone off the deep end.

The modern world seems in many cases to be "anti-DIY" I now a lot of the apprentices we train have never held a spanner or drilled a hole before they come to us. Generally their fathers (where most of us learned from) don't possess a tool kit and "get a man in" for everything past assembling "flat pack" furniture (even they offer an assembly service now !!)

"The big three" were putting out cars that were designed to wear out in a short period of time. Pinto, Vega, Pacer, etc. Japan were producing the Datsun and the like while Germany had the VW and other cars that could last a lifetime. American car companies had to make changes to compete so they upped their quality. Fast forward to Junk your Clunker to get rid of the old reliable cars plus in this state they raised the emission standards so the cars couldn't pass smog. My Chevy Euro was a good example. One year it was in the middle of the acceptable range then the next it was at the limit due to the change. My 1980 Honda CVCC was designed to meet the projected 2023 standards whereas my 93 Euro barely passed in 2010. It's all meant to take the cars off the road and put us in mass transit and possibly 15 minute cities. It's been coming for a long time. The warnings were there but few paid attention to it. It was Agenda 2021 now it's Agenda 2030. They're not hiding it and people are waking up to it finally. Already BLM land has been cabled off around us so we can't visit our National Monuments.
I'm glad I still have my 69 Ford F250 and my 75 Z1b to enjoy while we still have time to do it. If they get their way my grandchildren will be forced to live in Cities like in China and our way of life will be lost forever. I hope not.
EV's are not the answer

Ok then, from the information that I've seen so far it appears that it is not an issue and probably never will be, except maybe someday to residents of C.A.. That's all from me, now I've gotta go finish working on my car.....

Sacramento County only. From what was posted previously, this is to discourage people running business repair shops out of their home in residential areas.Ok then, from the information that I've seen so far it appears that it is not an issue and probably never will be, except maybe someday to residents of C.A..
