Wrong Brake Rotors - What are They??

Well, I was so happy to get a great deal on a pair of front brake discs for my KZ1000, but it was too good to be true. The discs bolt to the hub but the overall diameter is about an inch smaller. Can anyone tell me what these might be from so I can resell them? I'm sure they are from a KZ, but I don't know what model.

Now that I look closer at the picture, I can see that the brake pads were only making contact with about half of the rotor because of the smaller diameter. I guess I should have picked that up before bidding. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Guess the seller wouldn't take them back because he misrepresented them would he? I know it's a huge hassle, but you never know.

Those look pretty similar to the one on my KZ550A1. I know the KZ440 also had that 4 bolt pattern, but they were smaller than my 550.

I might be interested in them if they are the right size for my bike. can you measure the diameter of the disc as well as the diameter center to venter of the mounting bolts??

The outside diameter is about 10 7/8" and the mounting hole distance is about 2 3/16" C-C (2 holes next to each other). I know they bolt up to my KZ 1000 wheels, but the OD is smaller for sure. The 1000 rotors are closer to 12" in diameter. I can give you a good deal if they fit

Darn, mine look to be like 11 3/4". My guess is yours are the right size for a 440.

At least I know that kz1000 rotors will fit mine now

kz1000 CSR front rotors maybe??? I will measure mine and get back to ya.

I've got a rotor from a 78 650 SR rear brake in my basement that looks pretty similar to that one. I can measure it if you need me to, but I can't get back to you till Monday or Tuesday. part no. 41080-1020

I'm pretty sure that they are front rotors, but may be from a 650 or 440?? The minimun thickness (as cast into rotor) is 4mm. These are thinner than the rear rotors that have a 5 or 6mm minimum thickness (can't remember exactly). At least that's how they are on the 1000's anyway(thinner on the front).

thats a front rotor for a kz440,same diameter as kz1000 rear rotor but thinner.

Those discs are identical to mine. Measurements agree and they have the correct number of holes in the right place.The only difference is that there's a min thickness of 4.5mm on the rear side in the cast centre on mine.

OK, I double checked and these definitely have a 4mm min thickness. I also compared them to the front and rear rotors from a Z1-R. The pair in question is just a bit smaller than the 1000 rear and quite a bit smaller than the 1000 front. I have found a couple of pictures of the KZ440 and they have the same hole pattern. I think the 650 CSR does too. To summarize...I'm still not sure what they are! :blink:
