Kill Switch and key switch was created by Spatler
Hello! Now that i've finally got the bike running reliably i've started looking at stuff that hasn't been hooked up. One of them being the kill Switch and a key switch. On this bike there is a brown wire and a yellow one with a red Stripe. The yellow one goes into the headlight to make the starter work but the brown one for now is just danglin in there. Where is the brown one supposed to go for the kill Switch to work. Kinda new to electrics. Its not ground cause that just made the starter spin whenever it was set to run...

Brown is ignition live into the switch
Yellow/Red internally feed the starter button and the external yellow/red feed the ignition coil
Black is the starter feed out of the switch

I'm sorry but i'm kinda stupid about these things does that mean brown splices into the ignition coil wire? You might have to explain it like i'm 8.

If the brown from the switch is just dangling and the bike runs it sounds like someone has cut the brown and joined the brown from the ignition switch to the yellow/red somewhere outside of the kill switch (probably because the kill switch is faulty - or they thought it was) I would suggest you find that modification and reverse it, you can then see if the kill switch is indeed faulty

I would suggest you take what Wookie is saying as he is very knowledgeable regarding electrical systems in general and those on our older bikes. Will say that from the pics you posted your machine also has a on/off switch for lights, which the pics he posted do not show. As he said if the bike and it lights work then someone has been in there and made changes from the stock setup, that requires more exam of just what has been done to cut the brown wire, as it is what is (stock) to bring power to the right hand control unit.
