Deceleration popping is usually caused by a lean idle circuit. Open idle fuel mixture screws 1/4 turn, or, if your carbs have idle air-crews, close them 1/4 turn and test ride.
Do you have air corrector jets installed in your carbs?
Running pods requires them, and attention must be given to idle mixture (screws and jets), as well as main jets, to achieve a decent (street) tune,
which is, at best, going to be a compromise... compared to running the standard air-box and filter.
