KZ1000D... L side crankshaft seal looks to be no bueno

The bike didn't have a centertstand when I purchased it, it it's been a bit of a liberal (well, leaning to the left anyway) :-) 
There's a very long story (which I'll put in the "Projects" section eventually) but the bike had relatively fresh oil (less the ten hours of use) when the bike was parked in 2001. Internally much of the engine is in very good shape, but... the left side crankshaft seal look like it may be bad.

My question is, is it possible to pull this seal and replace it without splitting the cases? I'm told it can be done on some bikes... but not all. I'm reluctant to start pulling things off as things that work but haven't moved in 24 years tend to want to break if you mess with them.  What do you all think?

And feel free to mock me if this is a stupid question. I'd rather admit my ignorance before as opposed to after I've made parts into pieces of parts.

The picture i/we see shown the output shaft, clutch push rod and kick starter seal.
All seals and the crank seals can changed without splitting the engine case.

As mentioned, all seals are replaceable without splitting the cases.  The one item often overlooked, is the o-ring on the output shaft. Item #21 on the attached diagram, PN 92055-035.  If you are experiencing a leak from behind the countershaft sprocket, always include this in your seal replacement.  Also, there is no lip on the case cover for the output shaft seal (#19 in your diagram.) Be careful that you don't push it too deeply into the case.  I recently tore down my MKII and discovered the seal had been forced inward past the case and was just hanging out on the output shaft, letting oil drift on by to the outside world....(apparent road trash plastic picked up and displaced by the drive chain to wrap behind the front sprocket - forcing the seal inward)

Just to clarify.
There is NO crankshaft seal on the left side .
The only seals on the left side are in the trans cover for the output shaft, gear selector shaft and clutch pushrod..
There is a crank seal on the right hand side and this is located in the rear of the ignition housing.
This and all other rotary seals can the replaced in an hour or two without disturbing the engine.
