Good News, Bad News 1977 Kawak KZ750 TWIN! was created by ShaneDude
Good news Im having my first kid at 26! Wooo hooo.
Bad news: In re the clutch starter gear problem that i and many others have on the twin 750B bikes, since i work a lot and dont have time, i spoke to a local mechanic who works on old bikes. He said, to put in the new gear springs and whatnot, depends on if the clutch starter gear is on the front or side. He hasnt seen the bike and was busy working. Im pretty sure its on the side, but am not certain and MAN am I short on time. Can anyone confirm?
Im just praying the teeth on the starter clutch gear arent broken.

Not sure on the twin but when my starter clutch went out it was simply a matter of replacing the springs.
Congrats on the kid. There is now before kids and after kids. Totally worth it.

Thanks. Im hoping its just the springs, but another person here told me to "have the boss machined to .003."
Now, is it on the side of the bike or upfront? Thats the most important question

The starter clutch is on the left side behind the alternator rotor. Be carefull the, the screw holding the rotor has a left hand or counter clock wise threat. You have to turn screw clock wise to loosen it!!!

Wow. Super helpful. Thanks! I will let the mechanic know if he doesnt know already. He said the job would be cheaper of the clutch thing was on the side not the front, so Im happy to hear that.
If the damn bike werent so hard to kick, I would just kick it forever. But its a PAIN!.

Might want to have the mechanic get it to start easily with the kicker. my 750b is kick only, starts on the second or third kick in the morning, and then the first kick rest of the day as long as i take the time to get it to TDC before my first real kick.

its a 1-2 hour job with the right tools. I mentioned you may need to machine the sprocket boss if yours is in bad shape and you cannot find a replacement. Until you see it you wont know. worst case scenario if you don't address the sprocket boss - you have to do it twice.
