Timing adjustment was created by Qsmothers3
Ok so I have gone through the manual and I didn't see anything in it about this ignition timing....I think its off because when the bike is running it stalls out around 4000 rpm and won't rev higher. How do I adjust the timing on this bike? I have racked my brain about this for days now and can't come up with an answer.....I've attached a photo...any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Not made to be adjustable, you can cheat a little by elongating the holes on the plate the pickup is mounted on. Have you confirmed with a timing light that you have a timing problem? Are the mechanical advance weights free?

So I dont need to set it at any particular mark and it will be fine? Also where do you test timing with a strobe? If you can't tell I'm very new to all this.....where are these weights located? I suppose the stalling could be a fuel/air problem i just figured it was a timing advance issue.

I am sorry if you have in some other post indicated which model and year you have but I have not or do not recall reading it. If you had then that is on me not you. I do find it of help to see what bike(s) you have to help know which one you are talking about.

My bad I forgot to say it is an 82 kz440. I cant get the darn thing to start at all now, it has gotten pretty cold here in missouri tho so may be thats the issue. Im just so lost at this point. As of last week it started and would idle with no problem every day, now it just cranks and on occasion will back fire really loud but never start.

Looks like the spark advance may be frozen. Lube it and be sure the arms move freely and the springs work as they should.

If that's all you have. Better on penetrating oils on the market.
