Yes there is a ball bearing, but it’s under the pusher that’s under the clutch plate. Unless you took the clutch apart it can’t come out. If all you did was replace the cable then you need to go through the factory manual adjustments. I doubt clutch plates would fuse together in a few months.

Do you have a manual to follow to adjust the new cable? Also unless it’s a OEM cable for your bike you need to check length and routing so it’s not affected when steering lock to lock.

I've experienced a similar issue after installing a new cable on my KZ550A. The clutch worked for a few pulls, then all of a sudden there was no resistance in the lever and the clutch would not disengage. I'm not sure if the clutch adjustment method is the same for the 1000, but it turns out the issue was due to the misleading instructions in my Clymer manual with regard to the clutch release adjuster screw located on the front sprocket cover.

@Loudhvx has an annotated guide that cleared up my confusion and saved me a lot of hassle:

Again, not sure if this applies to your bike, but it could be worth a shot if your adjustment process looks similar.

Hope this helps.

**Edit: Just re-read your post, and I see you mentioned your lever has good feel, so it may be a different issue, as my lever felt loose when I had this problem. Could still be worth making sure you did the adjustment process correctly though.

My clutch plates will stick together if I have not ridden in a little bit.  Put it on center stand and start it in first while riding the rear brake and giving it throttle.

Thanks the adjustment seems good I'll try your idea before I get into the clutch it sat for a long time before I got it then stayed in neutral while I worked on it
