I went to install my dyna ignition today and noticed the mechanical advance weights were broken where they contact the rotor to move them out. The bike has never ran with me before so I wouldn’t know if it just happened or it happened a long time ago. Does anyone know the part number for the weights? I don’t need the whole advancer, and everyone on fleabay wants like $100 for the whole assembly.

Looks like what I was using on my bike. I took two to make one but they were a little heavy so the curve was off. Might work for you if they're the same. I'll dig it out and post a pic later.

I don't think Kawasaki sold the weights separately.  I think you're going to have to find a complete assembly.  Maybe try a bike breaker?  For example:

'78 Z1-R in blue , '78 Z1-R in black, '78 Z1-R in pieces
My dad's '74 Z1
'00 ZRX1100

The bike breaker had no luck. I’ll see what the other user has and see if he would be willing to get it to me. I’ll pay shipping of course. Bummer because I was just hoping to ride it to work for my last day at my current job.

What is broken on it I don't see it.
Steve
The rotor is not shown.  It slips down over the shaft and has notches on each side which engage with tabs on the weights.  If I'm understanding correctly the tabs on the weights are thrashed.  Sounds like someone hamfisted installation of the rotor and the weights got damaged.

The rubber end stop of the weights are brittle and have only some left over rubber parts not attached to the rotor shaft, (weak springs too).

Most of the time the springs get weak causing idle issues. Some bend the spring loops to tighten them up. After playing around with different advances I bought one from Z1E for $150+ and hardly noticed the difference. I bought a used KZ 750 one from eBay for next to nothing for the springs. The plate I sent to one of our members. I've never seen one broken as you suggest. Are you sure the pins aren't bad.
This is what I have.
Steve
The larger ones look like yours.

I see it now.   Let me know if you want them. Location and which set?

Yes y’all are correct, the pins that engage the weights have been broken off by the previous owner or maybe rust. But those definitely are the correct weights. Can you pm me and we can discuss how much you want for them and shipping and all of that? Those pins were actually broken when I pulled the whole assembly off, I just figured they were to ensure the rotor did not spin too far. Then once it clicked that there were slots for the dyna rotor to go in that those were actually broken off.

if you don’t mind I’d take the ones with the springs, as mine are slightly buggered as well.
