im thinkin a set of 34mm flatslides for carbs, but as for amount of porting and cams i am unsure. Will i need big valves put in, lots of porting? I duno what is possible as i have never rode or built a big block bike before. I dont know if this is way out of my league or not, but breakinig 10 seconds would be amazing. I know alot of it will boil down to skill as well. I plan on running some pretty crappy times for quite a while until i can handle the bike, but i would love to break 10

One more question. I just found a great condition z1 crank for cheap near me. I think i will buy it either way, but which crank would be better for my build. I already have my freshly welded kz1000 crank, but would the 900 crank be worth welding and using as it will wind up faster? I have heard alot of mixed feelings on this, as some believe the larger rotating mass would be better. Any opinions?

You should think bigger!

You can run 10's with a 1075 with pistons, cams, 29's and a stock head (other then valve springs)

With a big motor you should be going faster, save it for the track..........

A 900 crank is something like 8 lbs. lighter, some say the 1000 are stronger, people use both.

Not for street bikes. You can run them on the street, but you are limited to the cam lift to around 435 because anything larger will kill the valve springs in a street bike.

If you look at our big block engine kits you will see no big cams and high compression.

After looking at your page, I have a question about your 1075's with the K410 cams? I take it that, that engine is sold without porting? What kind of horse power does it make? What kind of times have people ran with it?

jay, lets say i run 1393 or 1428 10.25:1 pistons, .435 cams, and 34mm flatslides. What would you consider doing for headwork? bigger valves, heavy porting?
