4 days were spent driving and another 4 visiting family but we still managed to put 700 miles on the bikes on some very nice roads between Winslow and Scottsdale
Above Jerome
Jerome, looking at the red mountains of Sedona and Flagstaff off my left shoulder
Met My little cousin Kate in Prescott were she lives and her and my wife decided to get Quail tattoos
Which resulted in us staying the night because temps got down below freezing
Sedona was nice but very crowded for a week day
Art in Sedona , I call this born again
Down by New River
This sign has been in the RR bar for ever
87 headed North away from the rat race of Scottsdale and Fountain Spring
Casino in Camp Verde Mrs bluej won 40 bucks on the slots :woohoo:

I used to ride that and more when I had my bike out west while I worked based out of Phoenix.

Brings back memories of when I lived in Tempe.
That "NO SNIVELING" sign came from JJ's Cantina in Rocky Point Mexico, about an hour south of the AZ border. I wonder if that place is still in business?

Very nice up there great roads,
we ran into a big herd of Elk just off the road between Pine and Strawberry and saw a few more up in Happy Jack a couple days later
That stretch of road above Wilhoit leading into Prescott was very curvy and a lot of fun, we managed to ride in between to sets of rain clouds and only got snowed on as we were got to Whiskey Row, had a nice meal at one of the bars and a couple (Grand Canyon American Pilsners ) very tasty
Saw a bunch of Black Tail Deer through here and they were very close, if you run these roads be careful.
Jerome is also a neat place to check out and that road leading South out of town is very cool, deer there too.
I liked all the roads we were on above Phoenix, even 17 is a nice scenic road that is heavily watched but we had crank the bikes up to 85 just to keep pace with traffic.
I hadn't been to New River in twenty years and was sad to see how built up it is now, The Road Runner looked the same on the inside though, friendly folks and they had a great Chili Burrito, I think they added the Rodeo stands since I had been there last,
The "No Sniveling" sign was still up but they took down the " no patch jackets" sign, maybe since Sonny B moved in
The ride to Cave Creek use to be a desolate road, no more C.C. was setting up for a big bike rally that coming weekend and I'm sure it was going to be a mad house ,also they kicked the guy out of frontier Town that used to make pepper beer so I missed out on that. :pinch:
Scottsdale was busy midday but was pretty much the only way I could see to get to route 87 beside dirt roads, no big deal, once we got above Fountain Hill it opened up nicely and we road between 2 more storm systems most the way back up and only getting rained on a little bit but rode on some wet roads after it had passed, still worth every minute. Payson was an interesting city in the middle of nowhere with 2 Starbucks, the wife liked that
Next time out we may head in your direction Steve and make it in California, I have family in San Diego, we'll see.
