Pour one out for Lou D.  He passed February 22, 2022 of lung cancer (he was not a smoker).   Rest easy, LouDhvx.

I hate to hear that. He was an important contributor here and seemed like a genuinely good guy.

JR
 Oh No!
He will be greatly missed. He was so knowledgeable and so helpful and a real gentleman.   I am truly shocked.  Like KZQ said he will not be forgotten.

KZQ
That's terrible news loudhvx was our most knowledgeable member on electrical issues. I believe he also shared his skills on other sites he owned, although I do not know their URLs. If anybody knows of those sites please link them here. I'm going to change Lou's status to KZR Legend where he will join Patton and Tony as past members who touched all of us.
He will be missed and not forgotten!

So sorry to hear this. Lou was incredibly knowledgeable and generous with his advice. He even designed me a custom kickstand safety relay.

Here’s a link to Lou’s motorcycle webpage - lots of helpful info.

RIP Lou

Lou D was a brilliant guy who had many diverse interests, I learned a lot from him and really enjoyed our conversations over the years.
Cancer sucks and he died way too young; I hope his family is ok.

Vaya con Dios Brother

This is a video he made (one of many) of the relay through Chicago, he spent a huge amount of time on the edit, and it shows, thanks again Lou

I am sadden to learn of this.  I had noticed he was not posting responses to many electrical posts here as he had in the past.  His knowledge and willing to share it will be missed.

Very sad to hear the news, His Z550 page is a wealth of knowledge. I and many Z400/500/550 owners have learned a lot from him.

This is indeed sad news.  Wondered on many occasions how Lou D was doing and hoped to ride again after our Lake Shore Drive KZR Flag Relay Outing.  He had always been helpful and available to me especially on electrical issues.  We are certainly less with his departure.  Thank you for sharing Jack.  Godspeed Loudhvx

Was saddened to hear this - he helped me out a lot when getting to know my KZ. If nobody else has already done it I could start saving the web pages from his site ( s3.amazonaws.com/gpzweb/index.html#home ). If somebody wants to help I could work from the top down and somebody else from the bottom up - there are quite a few pages! I could try and merge all the pages into a pdf that could be stored in the filebase.

If the site has already been exported let me know, otherwise I'll just start exporting the pages on Sunday.

RIP Lou.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe KZR is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
