This man lived a life most of us just dream of. The 1973 Daytona thing.. 2630 miles averaging 109 mph in 24hrs on a Z1. The 8 man Kawasaki team set 46 performance records.
I was in the army at the time. I bought a new HD XLH1000 in 1974. just prior to being sent overseas, The Z1's used to just plain zing past past that $2600.00 mistake. I had always wanted a Kz1000 but kept the Harley for years after I fixed it... the XLH started huffing oil out of the back jug after ~500 miles. Whoever the morton was that built that motor did not snap in the wrist pin keeper into the groove properly on the rear jug, and it started huffing oil like a pig as the wrist pin ate deeper and deeper into the jug. Which just happened to be after I took off on a trip with my cousin prior to going overseas. What freaking ship show.. brand new 1974 HD XLH 1000 .., slow too

Soon to say "Made in Thailand" This snopes article says "mostly false", but the only false part I see on this loonie leftie site was that the move was planned before any tariff's offsets were ever announced.
www.snopes.com/fact-check/harley-davidson-steel-tariffs/ From the Article: " In fact, Harley has planned on consolidating production at the Kansas City plant since 2015, before Trump was even in office; when the company made the announcement, it said that it was due to slowing motorcycle sales:"
Of course companies never move their plants because increasing costs and red tape make it impossible to operate out of the red. And the exuberant pricing that accompanies the attempts to keep the lights on also goes along with slumps in sales. It's a vicious circle.
The loud and slow bunch act like I did something to them when I pull up next to them on the road. That's OK, because they quickly make a jittery image in my rear view mirrors.
