Just got back from a VJMC event in Blairsville, GA. Lots of good Ridin' around Suches, GA 60, GA 180, US-129, too many backroads to mention, etc., etc., etc.

The event was held at Copperhead Lodge, a fine development in the Blue Ridge foothills that has a good lodge, many nice cabins, and a very good restaurant. Judging by lodge decor and bike traffic, Copperhead seems to mostly cater to the HD crowd.

The theme this year was Yamaha. 40 or so vintage Yamaha's, ranging from a nicely-restored late 1950's two-stroke single to a 1990's GTS1000 daily rider from MD. Many spotless XS650's. Members from as far away as ND.

~800 miles round trip from home to Blairsville & back, plus 700 or so mountain miles while in GA. We dipped a wheel into TN and NC during our stay too.

So... we rode our Honda ST1300A to a Yamaha event at a venue that caters to HD's.

Does that mean we have to turn in our Kawasaki cards?

First off good for you to thumb your nose at covid19. I do it daily while taking normal precautions. I bet the mountain scenery was a big boost to your health.

Now about your question.... hhhhmmm, a Kawasaki nut, riding a Honda to a Yamaha event at a Harley destination, wow, messes with the mind. I give you permission to keep your Kawasaki card knowing your a member of the Kawasaki “silent majority”

As the cop said when he pulled me over for speeding...."You get one warning and only one warning."

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I wish I could of gone. I'm not far from there and ride those roads pretty regularly. Unfortunately, I was at a wedding that weekend and have my own daughter's wedding coming up next month. I'm ignoring the Chinese virus...

I am going to throw my 2 cents worth in on this one because myself and my wife both caught Covid from another immediate family member. I was not a happy camper the day I found out my Covid test was positive. A lot of things run through your mind at that point like am I going to end up in a Covid hospital ward on a respirator and if so will I survive the experience. Once we had the virus the real fun begins because there is very little that can be done to make you feel better. It is simply a matter of toughing it out. As it has turned out all 3 of us recovered, but I faired the worst. I still have no sense of smell or taste yet almost 5 weeks later and I am always tired.

Before I caught Covid I really didn't pay a great deal of attention to it as I have very little contact of anyone from outside of realm so to speak. My wife is a n NP and she kept me informed of what was going on in the Covid world. I did find it odd though that so much information was coming out about wearing a mask, social distancing and washing your hands etc., yet this all seemed to go right out the window when Florida had Spring Break and the so-called protests started. Ironically little was said about the protesters and lack of keeping themselves safe, but other large gatherings sure caught flack including Sturgis later on.

So long story short, I would like to see as detailed a report come out on the so called protesters and how much their actions contributed to the spread of Covid and the monetary impact on the economy, as the after action report on Sturgis detailed. If anyone thinks the protests didn't have an impact on the spread of Covid I believe they are asleep at the switch, but more importantly it isn't fair to single out those that went to Sturgis without mentioning other large gatherings and the effects they had on the Covid problem. I guess I am somewhat biased being a motorcycle enthusiast, but you can't condemn one group without condemning others that did the same thing sans the motorcycles.

In Order,,,,
Slimjim and Z1 BEBE you will not have to give up your Kaw Club membership cards . Im glad a good time and ride was had by all ..Like you two and a lot of
others here , We are pure riders in the wind . As long as you ride whatever , Large or small , Fast or slow just keep on riding ..

I have been social distancing for years out of common sense as a Cancer / Leukemia survivor. But I hate crowds anyway..
Some friends of mine are still hunkered down in there bunkers , personal choice ..
Me , I just use common sense and wash up a lot . I hate masks , but wear one while out as required here in Michigan
Rick Im sorry for what you went thru and Will pray for a full recovery for you and yours.
Be safe and Be well
Dave

Sounds like we get a pass on this one. Relief!

We stayed in a cabin. Most daylight time was spent Ridin', with the Saturday bike show outdoors under the lodge's front parking area roof. Lodge restaurant had tables spaced well over 6 ft. apart, limiting capacity to about 1/3rd. to 1/2 of normal. Overall a reasonably safe trip. Truth be told, we were likely more at risk from cage traffic than from SARS-CoV-2.

Speaking of losing Kawasaki Card; I don't think I have even earned mine yet and then this falls into my life.
1976 BMW R75/6. It has been stored correctly for five years. In beautiful condition w/ 33,000 miles on it. I will spend this winter getting all the maintenance down to it. I doubt it will take me away from my 440 though. I love that bike. Oh the price....free.

As Always,
