I got the KZ1000 for a steal (pics below) and offered him the green KZ650 as that was part of the deal. He said "you keep it."
So if anyone wants a tip top KZ650 that has either a slight fuel or spark issue, for $500, let me know. I dont have the space in my garage for it. The green one is for sale, the silver one is my new one
BTW can I put a FLAT seat on this KZ? Its a 77 but Im hoping it wasnt an LTD. The seat is LTD I think.

It definitely looks like it's an LTD bike except for the front signals, which should be on the bars if it's an LTD.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

In retrospect, I should have opted for the Z1 foam and cover, as I think it ore attractive. But what I have works and is correct for the year.
What I'm showing is the LTD with the Z1 seat. Haven't snapped a pic yet with the other one.

Sweet looking fairly stock old kaw! I like the step seat because it keeps my butt planted when the front wheel leaves the ground which happens with frequency on a good running 1015cc Kz1000. The flat seat does not hold you in place during hard acceleration. and wheelies I can't see much in that dinky little pic, but it does look to be mostly stock 40 years later and probably still runs like a banshee. too.
It you concentrate more on keeping it stock and polishing it up or chroming the parts is better served rather than doing a bunch of "improvements" that will hurt it's dependability and make it another slow, spitting and sputtering crappy running bike. Just my honest opinion on a beautiful old survivor kaw.
Congrats on the new bike. Didn't want the 650. classic! lol
