Saw in person the other day....127hp...$8899.00 plus taxes. Looks like the Z1000 not impress.

Thanks Steve... but gotta ask the "Devils Advocate" question. So, in 10 or 15 years, will the backyard mech be able to wrench on this, like we can on the KZ's of yesteryear? ...or will this still be a "Dealer Only" wrench?

I can't see it, so gotta ask. Just that it looks complicated to get into...

Exactly! I have a 28 year old car that has 3 computers, multiplexed lighting, etc., etc., and even the dealers don't know how to work on it. So what are the chances that in 10, 15, or more years (40 years in the case of my KZ650) any dealer or backyard mechanic will have the knowledge, skills, or equipment (not to mention parts) to work on the high end bikes being made today? Ed

I agree Ed. Most (dare I say ALL?) motorized items... being cars, trucks, motorcycles, even mowers and almost anything with an engine these days... is getting to a point, per/by the manuf, where THEY (the manuf) don't want anyone to fix anything! Sad! Spare parts are rarely made beyond a certain date, by the OEM or even some 3rd parties. We're just lucky, with the whole KZ line, that there are 3rd parties willing to make things to keep our rides running.

Everytime I look at buying anything with an engine these days, I have to ask myself this question. Can I fix it? Will the Dealer ask me to take out a loan, just to get this thing fixed, in 15 or 20 years. I'm known to keep vehicles running, till they will no longer. Still have an 89' Nissan Hardbody PU, I got used in 2k. It still runs and does what I want it to do. Think I'll keep it for a while longer, rust bucket and all... plus, it's been paid for, since "my" day one. It's paying me back, every time I drive it! (o:


OH, personal rule... "I will NEVER buy a vehicle that requires more than one battery to run!" (I know, there are exceptions. Like a diesel PU) But, the wifes 08' Civic Hybrid will never pay us back. Every 3-6+(?) years, you'll need to drop $2500+ for a new battery pack. What a dumb design! My father taught me, many decades ago, that once paid off, a vehicle will/should start paying you back with minimal maintenance and good mileage. Just doing standard maint should keep it running for a good long time. Hybrids, made today, will never pay you back!!! Lesson learned...
