Instead of the copper gaskets, have you considered getting the fiber type?
I've seen them listed on eebbaayy for the Zephyr 750. Z1Ent has a number of them in various sizes & thicknesses.
I was thinking of using fiber gaskets on my 650 --- I installed a 750E exhaust system w copper gaskets, but I don't think it sealed properly. doh.

I'll look into those fiber gaskets Martin. I've got new fiber gaskets for the pipe connections under the engine but didn't know they also make fiber for fitting to the head.
And since I know how much everyone likes photos...
While waiting for the pipes I've redone a second set of carbs. Bead blasted everything and replated the hardware. These new carbs are off a 1980 model bike so they have overflow tubes built into the floatbowls. The newer carbs took away this feature so if a float sticks the fuel flows into the airbox. I prefer the older version and bought some 3.5mm fuel line so the leakage can be managed and routed away from the engine (should it occur).
