Same race from above with Elmer in 1989.
I traveled and wrenched with "Jim Mangus" back in this era, Jim ran a top fueler Kaw also.

One more, Mangus running Elmer. Jim could go 199MPH in the 1/4 back then. we only ran 80% nitro.
Are pistons lasted a season. Mangus was so cheap, he had a 40 spoke wire wheel Akront rim on the front. He was a home made engineer. He said a tight, tuned spoked rim was the strongest? Ya only need it on the big end. That's a "Puppet" rake there! Jim's shop was down the street from Puppets shop on Hinman St. We did that drinking beer. We rolled it down the street 100 yards.
And yes we did blast it down the street! fueled with nitro, middle of several nights. :evil:
