Very nice, indeed! Did you have the engine blasted to get it that clean?

(not really) related question - the stock mirrors on the 79 - were they the square(ish) ones like this, or round chome? I have seen both on them, but my FSM has no mirrors in any of the pics!

Does anyone know if the bracket highlighted in the attached photo is supporting anything other than the passenger pegs? Would it be detrimental to the frame to remove this extension?

Passenger pegs and muffler support.
It won't bother the frame any if you remove them, but you'll have to find some other way to support the muffler.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. If I go the direction I plan on going with my bike, I won't need those brackets for muffler supports, and I know I won't need them for the footpegs.

BTW: Sorry to hijack the thread.

I chopped one bracket loop off the same frame as in the photo, kept the right side for the exhaust mount. With a Sawsall and a grinder, you can make it look like it was never there. (Keeping this hijack going)
