Been back in the garage today, still working on the fibreglass and plastic parts of the backend. It's been slow as the cold is slowing down the curing process of the resin and adhesives. On a more serious note, I pulled up a chair and lit a cigarette while I pondered what to do next and it was at this point a "cold shudder" ran through me ! AM I TURNING INTO STEVE

It might bew a little bit of shadenfreude, but it's nice to see somebody else frustrated by the wild temperature-related variability in curing times.
Now get a friggin' heater out there, because I'm trying to live vicariously through this build.

Is this thing working? Is this thing on?

I have managed to get some garage time in over the holiday and have been carrying on with the rear bodywork. The mounting flange is in for the rear closing/lamp panel and progress with the panel itself is coming along. Looks a bit rough at the moment ( you gotta break a few eggs to bake a cake) but the recess for the lamp is in and the tunnel is made, I just need to marry the two together and beautify the whole thing. Then all that is left is to decide how I'll mount the turn signals and licence plate

I've struggling to get much time on the build over the last few weeks (work and Stuff!!) the cold is still causing issues with curing times so I have left the plastics for now and got my battery mount sorted as the cold doesn't effect welding. Still needs a bit of final tidying

Looks good!

Regarding the license plate and turn signals - do you have enough room to attach some flat stock to the back of the battery box? It could protrude below the fiberglass to serve as a license plate bracket.

On a previous bike I wanted to clean up the installation of aftermarket turn signals, so I made 90-degree brackets that attached to the top license plate bolts. The bases of the signal stalks were aligned with the outer edges of the license plate, and the wiring was easy to hide. This also put the signals right at the back of the bike for visibility.

Thanks both (sticking to the plan of starting at the back and moving forward) by the way I lied about the cold not effecting welding (indirectly but my mask kept fogging from my breath  ) I have been back on the closing panel today, still some work to do but it's coming (need to add some blimps for the turn signals) there will be no visible wires under the back as all the lights will be contained in this panel (SC57 fireblade LED rear light and BMW E39 LED number plate light and aftermarket turn signals). Sratch building this piece has been a mission but I've never seen it done this way before and should look really clean
