Undressing a 1300 Voyager

While not as sexy as a lot of projects, I'm excited about it and have begun lightening the old girl up. The hardest part is yet to come when I begin tackling The Rat's Nest and gadgets under the fairing.
It's good to be elbows deep into another transformation. I've done a few, but this may just be the most challenging. Will see soon.

Found out today that an '83 CB900 Custom front fender is a perfect fit. Comes out of my stash. Saves a few bucks and looks great.

It was nineteen years ago when I stripped down my 1100. I too suspected there was some fine things hidden beneath all that [strike]crap[/strike] nice stuff. I felt the unveiling immediately improved the handling and balance, like you know... how it was supposed to be. Uh huh.
Took awhile to acquire the correct parts (headlight bucket, trims, turn signals, etc,) needed to revert it back to stock. I kept it that way for several years before the urge to modify overpowered my senses. Just little inconspicuous things, you know. Sleeper-like stuff.

The thingamabobs on the left side of the bike beside the battery are a bank of relays.. This bike from the factory had a lot of circuits and a number of them were reasonably heavy loads and were serviced through relays. I haven't dived in deeply enough yet to know whether or not they're all necessary in its stripped down form, but I suspect not.

But, after pulling lots of stuff off and having (no joke) probably 10 to 15 connectors hanging open, it fired right up! Needed just a little work in the power distribution area - as there were a few "enhancements" made by PO's.
Did I mention that this thing runs well?
Encouraging. Very encouraging.
