When they arrived I opened them up and noticed a green ring around the inside of the clear plastic valve holders they come in.
Upon closer inspection, There were obvious tool marks where someone took them out with a pair of pliers, and the o'rings were old and hard.
Great $80 for 4 junk float valves that were in worse shape than the ones in the carbs.
Oh well, I ordered some of those neat viton tipped floats needles and seats from MikesXS.
Does anyone use these? How are they?
Looks like they might function better than stock??
If I don't hear back from the seller soon, I will begin steps to get my money back.
Looks like someone switched them out and returned them.

Turns out it had the wrong type of pilots in there, all sorted now.
Seems to be running not as lean, but still seem to be having difficulty getting the pilot mixture screws to have much effect on idle speed.
Still need to check the valve clearances, and address the cam end plugs.
While i'm there going to delete the reed valves and other vacuum equip with some nifty billet APE block offs.

Temporary deletion of the air injection system, until my block offs get here.
I left the reed valves in for now.

Got a few new bolts in stainless.
Not the worst gasket I ever scraped off but still a pain in the ass, especially all that crap on the head.

Almost done tuning I think it is getting close.
Got a little to hot while it was running lean, oh well got a bit of the color left might take now that it is getting more fuel.

I thought I ordered the correct size shims but they were a bit tight to fit the needle, so a little time with the needle file it is.

In case you were wondering I did manage to get the face off without removing the needle.

I spent a tedious half-hour at my local hardware store picking through a tray of stainless washers (metric I think), with a micrometer checking thicknesses for a dozen that measured .50 mm. They all fit over the needle shaft without issue.
You will likely find measurable variations of the thickness of those you have as well.
