I like your fixture for the top tensioner when you degreed your Yoshimura cams in. Better than cutting up a whole valve cover just to get that center piece.
I am kinda partial toward Bassani pipes. Your's came out looking great!!! You NEED to find you one of those 3 inch baffles for your pipe!!! I would love to hear your bike with that pipe at some high RPM's!!!! Where did you find the BIG Bassani emblem??? It does make the whole bike look better!!! I thought I was the only one with the old Bassani emblem.

I really appreciate the positive comments Dr.Gamma. Coming from you that is high praise indeed. I have been wanting a Bassani exhaust since before I even started building this bike. I had been trying to buy this one for five years and it took me another year to finally get it done.
I found the emblem on another Bassani system that goes to an unknown Suzuki. So I am in the process of restoring that one as well and passively shopping around for a gs750e or a gs1100e to fit it too.

lovely build by the way
As far as I’m aware it seems to be holding up just fine. After 2500 miles it still starts on the first try every time, doesn’t burn oil and doesn’t have any more blow-by than when I first started running it. So without removing the pistons to measure ring wear I don’t have any obvious negative signs so far. I am really only worried about the quality of the rings and how well they hold up at this point.
In the spring I may give it a compression and a leak down test just to make sure the numbers are where they are supposed to be before I start rejetting for the new exhaust.

Well Dr. Gamma, you got me thinking and so I went back to the internet and bought a bunch of stainless bits and after a whole lot of thinking and tinkering I came up with the closest I could get to a Bassani 3" race baffle.
Making the end cap took me the longest time to figure out. I started with a cheap fart can baffle for import cars and after some work on a lathe and extruding the hole to 3" with a steel cone, it turned out almost perfect.
And why make one baffle when you can make two for twice the price. So now I have one for the mystery Suzuki Bassani system that I took the giant Bassani emblem off of. (Now that it has a baffle, I need to sell it as well...)
I will have to wait till warmer weather to install the new baffle and get a video of it running. So stay tuned...
Making the end cap
Finished product.
