So do i buy new spark plug wires? Seems Z1 has some good prices but I would rather not wait on shipping. Would a regular auto parts store have what I am looking for?

You can get them from the auto parts store -- you'd probably want 7mm copper core.
Here's some info I saved, gleaned from a KZR topic:
www.kzrider.com/forum/4-electrical/59857...ly-sourced-ign-wires
Locally sourced Ign Wires by The_Proletariat
Omni Spark brand. 7mm copper core. ~$12.
come with HEI boots that slip over the Dyna coil towers. he used zip ties to secure them to the coils.

Thanks Martin. So basically I buy this 7mm wire and it will go into the holes where the coil has a pointy thing? It is a different thing on my Kz1000 as i have dyna coils on that one.

ok so got them installed but still get inconsistent spark when hitting the ignition. The starter motor turns over so I wonder why it isnt always sparking. Clean the connections?

IT LIVES! got it started today and rode it to the bank. It backfires pretty hard sometimes and seems like it isnt always getting enough fuel. Time to tune it up! SO excited. Thank you guys for your help especially since im an idiot with electronics.

Did a valve check today. I didn't check the torque on the bolts as my nice torque I loaned out. I picked up one from harbor freight for 9 bucks...not very good. Hopefully I can exchange these shims around.

Idk yet Steve. I got pulled away from the garage. I'll have to get to the tensioner and camshaft removal soon.

Thanks! I saw that chart in the manual. I do need to grab my micrometer and check the shims again because it seems odd that a 2.0 shim would be there on a bike with 10000 miles. How do I grind down the valve stems?
