I had a look at your profile,it was before your time.In 1981 a big recession hit and bike sales dropped like a rock and stayed slow for years after. There where 81,82 and 83 models in the bike dealers that where left years after. That and the fact Japanese bike where and still are in some circles seen as disposable toys has left relatively few of these bikes left.Good thing they made so many.History lesson over.rssuby2001 wrote: Good luck I am also saving one from the crusher, I'm down to a few pieces and some machine work on the head and it's ready to get back together good luck with your project are they really rare? Or are is it that there's none left.

1991 Mercury Paint Code 'EA' is a perfect firecracker red.
Good luck with the decals - they are a pain in the butt not to get wrinkles in at the front of the tank - on my GPz550 project I wish I would have found paint codes for the stripes, and had a professional paint them on. I still might try that later .
My wife asked me if I still loved her - I said "Honey, I love you more than new carburetor boots ! "

So it was an option here in the GWN,very interesting.Tried Google images search and it was nothing but red or non stock colours.Mcdroid wrote: To answer your question, the 1982 550/750/1100 GPz models came with a choice of two colors (firecracker red and sonic gold), depending upon where you lived. In the US, the gold was never an option. In Canada, you could get gold as an option on the 550 and 750 models, but not the 1100. In Europe, both colors were available for all models...same in Australia. Actually, that video with the sonic gold GPz750 is the first 750 of that color scheme I have seen. When folks restore GPz's, they always seem to repaint 'red' I think the sonic gold looks nice, it's period correct and you'd certainly have the only one around.

Yes I believe you told me this at the other site we have in common Been wondering if decals would be the way to go or bite the bullet and spray them myself.Have a bit of history with being "different" with colour choices.GPzEric wrote: Firecracker Red all the way !

I painted my 85 GS750EF this colour originally.I messed it up and redid it in these colours:
Which turns out to be close to this stock scheme
Went with a Euro/Aus scheme on my 78 GS1000
So going the Sonic Gold route has a certain amount of appeal.
In other things I'm thinking about with the GPz,I was in the local tool/car parts store www.kmstools.com/and seen this stuff on the shelf www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-2k-aero-spra...c-chassis-black.html Think this might be a very good frame paint.Have had good results with Rustolem(sp?) Appliance "Epoxy" to good effect on the GS's.but I'll try this stuff out.It will be 3x the price of the AE and I hope good.KMS also carries Eastwood`s PC guns and powders, hoping to get one of these www.eastwood.com/original-hotcoat-powdercoating-gun-3252.html to.
