Thanks guys. The machine work is 100% manual, no Cnc. Also there is no auto feed on the mill and the auto feed on the lathe was broken so all feeds were done manually.
As far as the brake lever goes, if you go way back I the thread you can see I made the linkage pivot around the lever with a radial slot, so you can pull the brake lever back out of the way when you kickstart

Cheap labor isn't skilled, skilled labor isn't cheap.
1980 KZ440a. I went green.
If you yourself are building an older bike and can see it through till you're riding it, that's proof you have patience.

Genius idea with the brake lever! I'd be scratching my head still. That's patience at its finest as well as ninja like hand to hand to eye cordination running the X and Y axis on the Mill...manually. Excellent machine work! Love using an endmill and lathe. May or may not be a stupid question but did you knurl the pegs yourself also? If you did, how'd you get the knurl so....knurly? lol..so deep. hahaha. smh.

I found that idea on an XS650 forum, so I can't take credit. The foot-pegs are Tarozzis, so I don't know how they got the knurling so defined but the machining on them is excellent. I ended up switching to folding rubber footpegs for more kicker clearance after that photo was taken. Using the mill manually isn't too bad with a digital readout. I designed everything before hand in CAD, then exported the X/Y coordinates so I just had to move the cutter from point to point while looking at the readout. The rounded edges were done with a "corner rounding end mill" really there is nothing super technical going on here. I'm an amateur machinist at best.

Ive been busy. rear end is finished and off to powder. I also designed and had these triples milled. I did the drilling, tapping, and slitting myself which cut the cost of the trees in half. i also changed my mind after i got the trees and decided to chamfer the edges to match the gas cap rather than have fillets. did it all with files which gives them a "soft" look that i quite like. They are brushed to 400 and nearly ready to go off to anodization. you can see my mock-up lower bearing plug on the stem.
