Well I found another one I just couldn't say no to. A 1978 KZ1000 A2 pretty much all there with only 18,000 miles on it. The good, the engine covers have been chromed, all the electrics work, compression is good, original airbox is all there, has a title, original key fits all locks, the inside of the tank is clean, chain and sprockets look pretty good, all the pins for the side covers are intact, the chrome on the rims seem to be cleaning up ok with a little steel wool.
The bad, needs new tires, forks seals are leaking a little, the seat needs to be re-done, the paintjob is terrible, the Gomer who used to own it put a homemade oil cooler on it (attached it with zip-ties), carbs need to be gone through, front fender is dented from smacking the homemade oil cooler and the header pipes are pretty rusty. Nothing really major, what we all pretty much expect to do.
When I pulled the bowls off carbs #1 and #2 I found the pilot jets laying in the bottom of the bowls and #2 was broken. I called Z-1 Ent. and ordered some stuff from Rob today. I think on Monday I'm going to take the carbs to a dealer in Massilon and have them cleaned ultrasonically. It's an experiment, I want to see how clean they can make them without me having to spray a bunch of carb cleaner and do a lot of scrubbing. For $35 it's worth a try since they aren't all that bad.
I have an LTD seat on my 79 LTD 1000 that is in perfect shape and I also have a brand new chrome Star Racing sidewinder exhaust as well as some stock LTD Jardine pipes that I could install. The painting and the cleanup will be the hardest part I think.

Thanks Tony this is the first bike I've bought in a long time. I even got him to take a POS Chinese made minibike in trade on it.

I'm not 100% sure yet what I'm going to do with it. I rode a bike just like it as a demonstrator back in the day when they were new. I loved that bike it had a Vetter fairing and an LTD seat. I bought a Vetter a couple of years ago at Mid-Ohio that I could put on if I can find a bracket. That's one thought.
I also have a 77 LTD that needs too much work to really put back on the road so I'm thinking of maybe using the wheels from it on this bike as well as some other parts I've got laying around. I'm thinking that I'll have it painted black along with my 79 LTD 1000. I'd like to get the original striping for both bikes but that runs close to $100 for each bike plus they both need new side cover emblems at $35 to $45 for each emblem. I suppose it will all depend on how much money I want to put into it. That will be easier to decide once I get it back to running as it should. I think I'm going to look at a 750 LTD in the morning as well. 2 bikes in a week is nothing I haven't done before but it has been a couple of years since I bought a bike.

Thought that you might have run out of dollars or got yourself another hobby like gardening or diy

Just wondering what your doubts are about the true mileage of the 750. Pictures look pretty good, carbs have leaked a bit and it has non standard exhaust- people sometimes change exhausts just because they can and maybe prefer a 4 into 1 or maybe because the original has rusted out?
